Ben Cutler
Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer
Ben was named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of USHEALTH Group. on September 1, 2004. Ben was previously Chairman of Fortis Health and Executive Vice President of Fortis, Inc. from fall of 2002 through August 2004. Ben originally joined Fortis Health in 1985. He served as President from 1996 to August 2002 and as Chief Executive Officer from 1996 to December 31, 2002. Ben has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, which includes serving as President of Fortis Sales and Fortis Life. Before joining Fortis, Ben held various positions at Sun Life Group of America and USLIFE Corporation. Ben is a past Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Health Insurance Association of America (HIAA). He is also a board member of the Washington Business Group on Health (WBGH) and the Marshall Funds Investor Services (MFIS). He holds a B.S. from Kansas University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Ben is committed to caring for the health of both customers and employees, as evidenced by his dedication to the company’s wellness program, his seat on the board of the Wellness Councils of America (WELCOA) and personal competition in triathlons.
Jim White
Vice President Agency Services
Jim White has over 20 years of Home office and sales experience. Jim first started in insurance sales and understands the day to day experience of the agents and the sales process. Joining the administrative side of the insurance business in 1990, Jim has managed multiple areas from lead programs, to the licensing and contracting of agents, the paying of advance and earned commissions, and the daily operations of new business and agency operations. Jim’s management experience in both Life and Health insurance companies allows him to anticipate and provide direction to support the agents in the field. By understanding the agent’s life cycle for securing new business and building value to the agent, Jim and his agency department strive to provide excellent service to our career agents.
Scott Smith
Vice President New Business and Underwriting
Scott Smith has been in the health insurance industry for over 20 years, been awarded a FLMI insurance industry designation, and participated in Total Quality Management and Improvement development programs. He started his insurance industry career in a customer support role and through his constant dedication and acceptance of additional responsibilities was promoted to various management roles giving Scott vast experience and knowledge in administration and customer service functions. Scott has been with USHEALTH Group since 1995 primarily responsible for overseeing the New Business and Underwriting departments and has a talented team motivated to process our agents business timely and accurately. He also spends time in the field assisting agents, conducting training, and works closely with the field leadership providing him additional insight and appreciation of the sales process. Because of his operational understanding along with appreciation for the need to provide excellent customer service, Scott and his departments have the attitude of being business partners to our USHEALTH Career agents.
